There are several key aspects that affect airports that are contained in the $2.2T stimulus package recently passed.  American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) has summarized portions of the bill that outline funds that may be available to your airport.

Governor Walz has issued Executive Order 20-20, directing Minnesotans to limit movements outside of their homes from March 27 at 11:59 pm to April 10 at 5 p.m. to help slow the spread of COVID-19. This order provides an exemption for workers who (1) work in Critical Sectors and (2) cannot perform work duties from home.

Business owners should review information in the NAICS Minnesota Critical Business list and determine whether your business, services, and employees qualify for Critical Worker exemptions.

You may also want to consider whether or not other Critical Businesses rely upon your services. NAICS Information may be found here: https://mn.gov/deed/newscenter/covid/business-exemptions/

Governor Walz’s COVID-19 FAQ has a section on “What workers are exempt from the order” and other good information.

MnDOT and the FAA led a conference call meeting, on Tuesday, to highlight the impact that COVID-19 could potentially have on Minnesota's airports in the coming months.  A summary of the highlights on this on-line meeting can be found here.

Yesterday (3/25/2020) MCOA received another email from the MnDOT Director of Aeronautics, Cassandra Isackson, with a link to Governor Walz's Executive Order 20-20 and an article that better explains the executive order.  There is a link in the article that further describes the aviation exemptions.  If you have questions about how to interpret this executive order with respect to your airport, please feel free to contact Cassandra Isackson.  You can find her information by logging into your profile.
